WTA Madrid Day 2 Predictions including Sara Errani vs Caroline Wazniacki

Caroline Wozniacki in action ahead of the Australian Open.

WTA Madrid Day 2 has some tantalizing matchups. Here we will look at four of the matches on the cards in the first round. With no seeds in play, the wildcards and qualifiers can make their move for the second round. Who will make the next round of WTA Madrid Day 2?

WTA Madrid Day 2 Predictions

Lauren Davis vs Mayar Sherif

Head to Head: 1-1

Lauren Davis has not played much on the main tour this season. The American failed to qualify in Charleston but is in the main draw here in terms of ranking. Davis will want to kick start her season, this being only the second main tour event she has entered. Mayar Sherif has played more events this season, however, the Egyptian has failed to make it beyond the first round.

Prediction: Sherif in 3

Emiliana Arango vs Amanda Anisimova

Head to Head: First Meeting

Emiliana Arango came through qualifying and defeated two seeds en route. The Columbian made the second round in Miami after qualifying, so will be looking to at least replicate that. Arango has not been beyond the first round since Miami, though, so a confidence-boosting win is what is required. Amanda Anisimova made the fourth round in the Australian Open and the second round in Charleston. The American has not played many events on the main tour yet this season.

Wang Yafan vs Caroline Dolehide

Head to Head: 0-1

Wang Yafan lost in the first round in Miami, but made the semifinal in the LTP Charleston WTA Challenger event. The Chinese player was the sixth seed and lost out to the seventh seed in a tight three-set match. This should give the Chinese some confidence coming to Madrid. Caroline Dolehide made the second round of the Credit One Charleston Open and the third round in Indian Wells. However, the American has not really had a good season so far.

Prediction: Dolehide in 2

Sara Errani vs Caroline Wozniacki

Head to Head: 1-4

This is the match of the selection. Sara Errani had to come through qualifying to set up this meeting with Caroline Wozniacki. The Italian made the semifinal in Columbia and lost to the eventual winner. Caroline Wozniacki made the second round in Charleston and Miami, so they should be pretty confident. The Dane leads the head-to-head in quite a way so they will know how to defeat Errani.

Prediction: Wozniacki in 2
