I have an announcement to make: I saw Beyoncé perform live (cue the uncontrollable screaming). Though it's been a little over a week since I saw her at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, I am still (obviously) riding a high from the concert. Now I feel even more connected to Queen Bey knowing that she used the same setting spray I did for the Renaissance Tour.
The setting spray in question is One/Size's On 'Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray, and if you were hoping to get your hands on it, don't, at least for now. Of course, the moment it was revealed that she used the setting spray — the brand shared a post on its Instagram on August 8 — it sold out. Makeup artist Rokael, who has been doing Bey's tour glam for years now, used the spray for her August 6 Washington, DC show when it was raining.
It's unclear when the spray will be back in stock, but when it is, you'll want to get your hands on it. Because if Beyoncé's makeup can remain absolutely perfect despite rain and hours of singing and dancing, then it'll definitely hold up for a night out or brunch date.
Besides Beyonce's stamp of approval, it also has mine. Though I have free access to tons of beauty products, I actually purchased One/Size's On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray the day of the concert, which clearly was a smart thing to do, given that it was a packed, sold-out show. I'd had my eye on the setting spray for a while because I'd heard such great reviews about it from makeup artists I follow and people on TikTok.
According to the brand's website, the setting spray is supposed to absorb oils and mattify the skin, helping your makeup last for up to 16 hours. I cannot confirm whether or not the 16-hour claim is true (and am definitely judging those who are wearing makeup for that long aside from performers and others who must), and I don't have oily skin, so I can't attest to its absorption powers, either. It does, however, mattify without drying out the skin. I didn't feel like my face turned to stone, and that's saying a lot considering how much I use; I sprayed it after each new layer of makeup I added the night of the concert.
I did my makeup during the Uber ride to the event, spritzing my face in the car and praying that everything would look good. Typically, at the end of a long day, my makeup is mostly intact, but it doesn't look fresh. Also, I tend to sweat the most around my nose and upper lip, no matter what, and often have to blot those areas throughout the day. But not once during Beyoncé's set did I need to wipe off sweat. My makeup also looked as if it were freshly done before, during, and after the concert. When I took photos after, the only thing I retouched was my lip gloss.
If Beyoncé and I say One/Size's On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray is worth it, then what else do you need to convince you that you need it? Because it’s sold out, you'll want to keep it on your wishlist and a close eye on One/Size's pages for a restocking update.
