Meet Ernestine Shepherd, 80-year-old female bodybuilder who is in the Guinness World Records

Ernestine Shepherd is an 80-year-old bodybuilder who proves that age is just a number for anyone who puts their aspirations ahead of anything else. This octogenarian can give all those body builders out there a run for their money. Ernestine was not a weightlifter until 56, it was only after that she decided to lead an extraordinary lifestyle. Following her new found dream, she bagged two bodybuilding titles and was declared as the oldest competitive bodybuilder in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Sheperd started her journey as a bodybuilder with her sister who died a sudden death due to a brain aneurysm. It was her who motivate her to hit the gym daily. The sisters used to shop for swimsuits and hit the gym together. After her sister’s death, Shepherd was shattered and developed high blood pressure. She also slipped into depression and had panic attacks but she picked herself up and continued what her sister was fond of. Her sister wanted Shepherd to be fit and hence she continued with her dream. Shepherd wakes at 4 in the morning every day and runs 10 km. Her diet that keeps her fit also include scrambled egg whites and a handful of walnuts. Her diet also consists of eggs, chicken, and vegetables. She carries 10 percent level of body fat which is quite low for her body.
