What are effective strategies for responding to database security incidents?
The question is about responding to an incident, so to me the first step would be to isolate the incident, as identifying the specifics will take time, and you may not have the time to dig into the details. Example: The incident is that your data is being deleted from the database right now, computers are starting to delete files from servers and themselves. If you dont act quickly to isolate and stop the incident, you may never be able to recover. But these two really go hand in hand, as you will need all the details you can get to identify the source of the incident in order to prevent it in the future. A methodical approach to isolating the incident and getting it under control while gathering more and more information.
