My Portrait & Myself: Self-portrait workshop – Option 1

A new workshop with artist Matt David, to help you explore your identity – and how you present it – as someone living with HIV. The workshops will be relaxed and fun, as well as offering a different way express your emotions, and foster a sense of self-worth by creating self-portraits.

Artists have used self-portraits for centuries as a way of self-expression for their feelings and psyche. Typically, the perception of a self-portrait is drawing or creating artwork depicting the artist’s face. However, a self-portrait can be more abstract than that; as long as the image is used to describe the ‘self’, the image can be of anything.

We’re running the same workshop twice so that it is available to as many people as possible. It’s running on:

• Thursday 19th October from 6pm to 9pm
• Saturday 21st October from 1pm to 4pm

Suitable for any level of skill or experience, whether you’re a regular artist or haven’t picked up a paintbrush since you were at school.

If travel or care costs are a barrier to taking part, let us know in advance. Support is available to those with no recourse to public funds, or experiencing a gap in benefits or income.  There will be some light snacks and hot drinks provided.
