The 16 Best Places to Buy Bras, Tested and Vetted by Us

Based on extensive testing and editor favorites.

A comfortable bra can make or break your day-to-day. The wrong bra can leave you feeling uncomfortable and distracted, but the right bra will leave you feeling supported and confident. “The true value of a good bra cannot be measured,” says “The Bra Expert” Jené Luciani Sena. “We can stand up a little taller and look better in literally everything [when we’re wearing] the right bra.”

Even so, the shopping process itself can be overwhelming. Whether you’re guessing your size in the dressing room or aimlessly scouring the web, buying undergarments in general is a stressful ordeal. That’s why we, the Real Simple editorial team, are here to help.

As editors, we’ve experienced the highs and lows of bra shopping, from falling straps to poking underwire. Having tested countless brands ourselves, we've learned which retailers are worth the price tag and which can be passed up. But no pain, no gain, right? After navigating the often overwhelming bra market ourselves, we’re here to help you find high-quality bras with ease.

We polled the entire Real Simple editorial team on their favorite places to buy bras, plus examined our own extensive bra testing history to round out our list. Our final list includes 16 different brands, some exclusively available online and others accessible at your nearest department store. Plus, we tapped petite style coach Angela Foster, lingerie fit specialist Annette Bourne, and Sena for more expert insight. Read on for the best bra brands, all beloved by Real Simple editors, along with expert shopping advice on how to find the perfect fit.

Aerie

Aerie SMOOTHEZ Pull On Push Up Bra

Aerie

What Stands Out
  • It specializes in everyday bras and bralettes, and often has sales.

What Could Be Improved
  • The selection changes season by season.

Known for its cozy clothing and comfortable lingerie, it’s no surprise that Aerie (which is owned by American Eagle) has amazing bras. The brand was the fan favorite of our survey, with four of our editors raving about the brand’s selection. Aerie is a long-time favorite of associate editorial director Nicole Lund: “I've been an Aerie shopper since my teenage years, and even though I've worn other bras I always end up coming back to Aerie.”

It offers pretty much every type of bra you could think of, including everyday bras, cozy bralettes, sports bras, and adaptive bras, all at reasonable prices. In addition to its versatile selection of bra styles, it also boasts an expansive range of colors and sizes, offering band sizes from 30 to 42 and cup sizes from AA to DDD. Even the bralettes come in sizes XXS through XXL, with D and DD options available for sizes S through XL on select styles.

Having worked at American Eagle prior to Aerie’s creation, executive editor Lisa Freedman wishes Aerie existed back in the day. “My chest is on the larger side and it's often hard to find a supportive option that doesn't look like war gear. Aerie's bralettes are incredibly comfortable and still cute.” While she admits they aren’t the best for athletics, Lisa loves wearing them for quick errands or lounging around the house. “I live in them all weekend and sometimes I even forget I have anything on!”

Senior home editor Hannah Baker also praises the selection, particularly the brand’s wireless bras. “They're super affordable, and I never really want to spend a ton on bras (I'm a smaller chested gal, though, so I don't really need the support that others might need!).” Nicole adds that the wireless bras are some of the most comfortable she’s ever owned, too.

Along with being comfortable, Aerie’s bras can also offer wardrobe versatility. Editorial apprentice Megan Lenzi swears by the brand’s lightly lined selection for both comfort and style. “They are so comfortable and appear seamless under all shirts,” she raves. “I've been wearing their bras for years and haven't looked back since!”

And if the comfy selection isn’t enough to sway you, the brand’s return policy is one of the best we’ve seen. The store gives you free shipping when you spend $75 or more and offers free returns without a time limit—granting returns in the form of a gift card, even when you’ve lost your receipt.

Price Range: $25-$64 | Band Size Range: 30-42 | Cup Size Range: AA-DDD | Bralette Size Range: XXS-XXL | Return Policy: No time limit

Natori

Natori Understated Bra

Nordstrom

What Stands Out
  • It has plenty of comfortable yet elegant styles, even for those with smaller busts.

What Could Be Improved
  • The size range for bralettes is much more limited.

To look good is to feel good, and this upscale bra brand proves that comfort and style aren’t mutually exclusive. The brand sells over 50 kinds of bras, including everyday bras, sports bras, and lingerie bras, that somehow strike the perfect balance between elegance and softness.

Two of our editors swear by the brand’s Understated Bra, which is both simple yet feminine. Associate editorial director Katie Holdefehr has been wearing the bra almost every day for the past several years, and she’s not planning on stopping anytime soon. “I used to think I would never find a bra that I don't notice I'm wearing, but this is it! I love that for smaller cup sizes, the straps are very thin and the design is seamless and minimal—this "understated" bra is appropriately named,” she says.

Natori offers band sizes from 30 to 42 and cup sizes from A to H, though its bralette selection is a bit more limited, ranging from XS to XL. Shopping editor Lily Gray hadn’t paid much attention to bras in the past, but once she tried out Natori, there was no turning back: “I was shocked at the size and even more impressed with Natori's super soft styles. I purchased a lightly lined T-shirt bra and the contour soft bralette, and I've worn them almost every day since. They're so soft, comfortable, and supportive. I never have to worry about them peeking out of my top of choice either.”

You can receive a full refund for items returned within 30 days, and store credit for products returned within the 30- to 60-day window after delivery. But note that it does charge a $5 return shipping fee, unless you spent more than $300 on your order.

Price Range: $40-$132 | Band Size Range: 30-42 | Cup Size Range: A-H | Bralette Size Range: XS–XL | Return Policy: 30 days, $5 fee (waived on orders over $300)

ThirdLove

Thirdlove Form 360 Fit Wireless Bra

Thirdlove

What Stands Out
  • It has a very impressive range of sizes—including half sizes.

What Could Be Improved
  • You might find sizing to be tricky.

ThirdLove stands out from other retailers because it makes bras in standard sizes and half sizes, making it even easier to find your perfect fit. “There is no such thing as one size fits all, and ThirdLove has really nailed that on the head,” says shopping editor Euna Park. “With in-between cup sizes and an extensive range of bands, I find that ThirdLove bras fit me the best.”

It only sells 15 bra styles—T-shirt bras, bralettes, full coverage bras, wireless bras, sports bras, and more—but the inclusive size range makes up for it. Its band sizes range from 32 to 44, and its cup sizes run from AA to I, with half sizes available from A to E. If this unique sizing sounds tough to navigate, don’t worry: There’s an Online Fitting Room quiz that helps you find the right fit. (But you’ll have to sign up for ThirdLove’s emails to get your results.)

According to Real Simple editors, the brand’s 24/7 Classic T-shirt Bra reigns as the best. After seeing ads for the brand everywhere, associate editorial director Nicole Lund was initially skeptical of the brand. Once she caved and tried the Classic T-Shirt Bra herself, she finally understood the hype. “As someone with a smaller chest, I LOVE the mesh lining on the cups—I think this was the first bra that truly fit me without any gapping in the cups,” she says. While the price point is a bit higher than other bras on our list, Nicole attests that the impressive quality is worth the price tag.

Like Nicole, Euna is also a fan of the brand’s best-selling T-shirt bra, along with the 24/7 Classic Uplift Plunge Bra, which provides support without digging into the skin: “As someone who practically only wears white T-shirts during warmer months, I can say all the bras are fully undetectable too. And while bras should be replaced every six months or so, I've found they hold up far longer than that.”

The brand also offers free 60-day returns, and it gives you free standard shipping on orders over $100.

Price Range: $22-$78 | Band Size Range: 30-48 | Cup Size Range: AA-I | Bralette Size Range: N/A | Return Policy: 60 days

Wacoal

Wacoal Women’s Halo Lace Unlined Underwire Bra

Wacoal

What Stands Out
  • You can try on many of its bras at department stores.

What Could Be Improved
  • There aren't as many "special occasion" bras.

Wacoal bras are impressively durable, meaning you won’t have to replace them every few months. They fit well, hold up in the wash, and don’t break the bank. Wacoal sells more than 100 types of bras—including everyday picks, lingerie, sports bras, and more. These bras come in a range of colors (including several shades of nude). “Wacoal offers the best variety of supportive, well-made, but also stylish bras,” says one of our editors.

The bras are available in inclusive sizes, with band sizes ranging from 28 to 48 and cup sizes from AA to K. Though underwire bras often poke or prod the skin, assistant designer Natalie Guisinger says that’s not the case with Wacoal’s. She’s a fan of many of the brand’s bras, from the Halo Lace Underwire Bra to the Stark Beauty Underwire Bra: “As a somewhat busty woman, these bras are hands down the best. They are designed so well that their underwire never breaks down and pokes my skin.”

And one of the biggest perks? Wacoal bras are available at a variety of department stores, including Nordstrom, Dillard’s, and Macy’s, so you can easily try them on before committing. They’re also sold on Amazon, so you can expect quick shipping for last-minute events. “I found my favorite bra a few years ago and now make it a habit to buy the same bra in 3-4 colors every year,” says one editor. “I've found that Amazon consistently has the lowest prices.” We suggest taking advantage of the in-person accessibility, as the brand’s exchange policy is a bit difficult—you can’t exchange directly, so if you buy the wrong size, you have to return first and reorder.

Price Range: $20-$76 | Band Size Range: 28-48 | Cup Size Range: AA-K | Bralette Size Range: XS-3XL | Return Policy: 60 days

Pepper

Pepper Classic All You Bra

Pepper

What Stands Out
  • It's one of the few bra brands that specializes in smaller cup sizes.

What Could Be Improved
  • You won't find many lacy bras.

Small-busted ladies, rejoice! Pepper is the hands-down top choice for our editors with smaller busts, as the brand specializes in smaller cups—making it easy to stock up on hard-to-find sizes, like 40AA. “Pepper bras are hands down the best,” says shopping writer Steph Osmanski. Pepper’s bras have shallow cup molds to avoid extra space, along with reduced underwire for added comfort. “For as long as I can remember, there has always been a gap between my chest and the bra cup, but with Pepper, bras fit the way I imagine they're supposed to fit. Without the cup gap, T-shirts fit smoothly and don't ripple up,” says Steph.

Pepper shines in its size selection. Many brands pair small cup sizes with small band sizes, making it hard to shop if you wear a 38AA or a 40A. But Pepper offers small cup sizes (AA, A, and B) in band sizes from 30 to 40, allowing you to find your perfect fit. Real Simple’s trusted editor-in-chief, Lauren Iannotti, is a big fan of the wide variety: ”I am small up top (alas). These bras fit, and don't make me feel like a martian for needing all those As after my band size. They ALL come in small cups (not just a tiny, pun intended, selection) and there are a lot of great options. Functional but still attractive. Good colors. Good price. No nonsense.”

Even better: Strapless bras don’t have a great reputation, but Pepper boasts a, dare we say, comfortable selection? “When it comes to strapless bras, I feel like you have to choose between A: one that stays up, or B: one that feels comfortable. But when I got Pepper's MVP Strapless Bra and wore it to a friend's wedding a couple years ago, it was the first time I didn't spend all night pulling the bra up or feeling uncomfortable with how it dug into my skin,” says associate editorial director Katie Holdefehr. “I've now ordered multiple colors and wear them to almost every wedding or special event I attend.”

Price Range: $48-$65 | Band Size Range: 30-42 | Cup Size Range: AA-B | Bralette Size Range: XXS-XL | Return Policy: 30 days

Skims

Skims Ultimate Teardrop Push-Up Bra

Skims

What Stands Out
  • The bras come in eight shades of nude, catering toward most skin tones.

What Could Be Improved
  • You only have 30 days for returns, and fees apply.

You’ve likely seen Skims’ ads on Instagram, which show celebs in the brand’s shapewear and boxers. This is one viral brand that we think actually lives up to the hype—and beyond the basics, our editors also praise the brand’s inclusive bra selection.

Finding a bra that matches your skin tone can be tough, but Skims simplifies the process. The bras come in several colors, including eight shades of nude, to accommodate most skin tones. “I love the color range available in classic, skin tone shades, and the fact that most bras (and underwear) are all available in the same shades, meaning you can mix and match to create an undergarment wardrobe that matches your skin tone, no matter what style of bras you prefer,” says shopping director Kate Geraghty. After trying several of the brand’s styles, Kate has yet to be disappointed.

In addition to its variety of hues, Skims also boasts an impressive range of sizes. The brand has become a go-to for senior shopping editor Taylor Rock: “For my smaller-chested girlies, the Teardrop Push-Up Bra will give you the oomph you always dreamed of having. I bought this bra—my first underwire purchase in many years—after seeing it on TikTok and was actually shocked when I put it on. It gives you incredible volume and shape. Kim K knows what she's doing, and she's since made a wireless version, too.”

That said, we wish its return policy was more generous: Skims gives you 30 days to return unwanted items, but it charges a $6 fee on all returns.

Price Range: $38-$64 | Band Size Range: 30-46 | Cup Size Range: A-H | Bralette Size Range: XXS-5X, SDD-LDD | Return Policy: 30 days, $6 fee

Spanx

Spanx Bra-llelujah! Lightly Lined Wireless Bra

Spanx

What Stands Out
  • It specializes in comfortable intimates, including a nursing collection.

What Could Be Improved
  • There aren't many push-up bras—most of its offerings are lightly lined or unlined.

Spanx is best known for its shapewear, so it’s no surprise that its bras have proved just as high-quality. The brand’s bra section isn’t very large, but it’s filled with practical pieces you can wear every day. Spanx pretty much covers all the bases, offering low-profile bras you can sneak under clothing and supportive sports bras you can wear to the gym. We love that the minimalist collection spans a wide range of sizes and nude tones.

In fact, the bras are so comfortable that beauty director Heather Muir Maffei recommends them for postpartum wear. As a beauty writer, Heather’s been sent tons of bras to try out, yet the Low Profile Minimizer still reigns as her favorite: “The low profile minimizer has been my go-to after having/breastfeeding my two kids. I love my curves but need a bra that offers support/lift without feeling super uncomfortable.”

A trade-off for the comfort is that brand’s bras are predominantly lightly lined or unlined, so it may not be the best bet for those seeking the extra oomph of a push up bra. Spanx offers free shipping on all orders (score!), and the 60-day return policy is one of the more generous ones on our list. Just keep in mind that there is a $7.95 return shipping fee.

Price Range: $38-$78 | Band Size Range: 30-42 | Cup Size Range: A-G | Bralette Size Range: XS-3X | Return Policy: 60 days, $7.95 fee

Soma

Soma Enbliss Wireless Stay Put Multi-Way Strapless Bra

Soma

What Stands Out
  • It offers an inclusive selection of basic and specialty bras, particularly for those with larger busts.

What Could Be Improved
  • You need to spend at least $100 to unlock free shipping.

With over 100 styles to choose from, Soma’s bra selection is incredibly inclusive. The brand hits pretty much every category, from classics like wireless and T-shirt bras to specialty finds like nursing and post-surgery bras. These bras come in several colors and a wide range of sizes, with band sizes from 32 to 44, cup sizes from A to I, and bralette sizes from XS to XXXL.

We’ve tested a few Soma bras, including the Embraceable Perfect Coverage Bra, which we declared the most comfortable full-coverage bra. It camouflages well beneath clothing and has a thick enough band to provide the perfect amount of coverage. One of our testers found the material, a buttery blend of spandex and nylon, to be “substantial and light at the same time,” while another noted that it was so comfortable she “didn't even notice I had it on.”

The website is also easy to navigate. Thanks to the convenient price range tab, the site allows you to filter out products based on your desired price point. We also found the size guide accurate and helpful. Just keep in mind that you need to spend at least $100 to get free shipping, which is at least two bras.

Price Range: $38-$76 | Band Size Range: 32-44 | Cup Size Range: A-I | Bralette Size Range: XS-XXXL | Return Policy: 60 days

Colsie

Colsie Reversible Neckline Seamless Bralette

Target

What Stands Out
  • The intimates are affordable and comfortable.

What Could Be Improved
  • The selection is made up of only bralettes and bramis.

Target launched this sleep and loungewear brand in 2019, aiming to make intimates that are stylish yet versatile. After trying Colsie’s bralettes herself, senior shopping editor Taylor Rock can attest they are just that. “When I got rid of my underwire bras and moved into the bralette life, I ventured into Target because I knew they had a great sleep and intimates section,” she says. “I bought one Colsie bralette in white, and as soon as I put it on at home, I knew it would become my go-to—so I obviously went back and bought more.”

The comfortable brand offers bralettes and “bramis” (bra camis) from XS to 3X, and everything is available for under $22. Yes, you heard that right. The intimates are so affordable that you can stock up, guilt-free. While bras aren’t typically reversible, the Reversible Neckline Seamless Bralette (Taylor’s favorite) allows you to switch between the scoop and V-neck depending on your outfit. And…drumroll please…it's only $7. “It's really comfortable, supportive, and inexpensive, so I'll always sing its praises,” says Taylor.

Since the intimates are part of a loungewear collection, there are a bunch of matching pieces and sets you can experiment with. Although the selection is relatively small, we value quality over quantity in this case. We’re also fans of the 90-day return policy, which gives you ample time to decide on your purchase.

Price Range: $7-$15 | Band Size Range: 32-46 | Cup Size Range: A-DDD | Bralette Size Range: XS-3X | Return Policy: 90 days

Cuup

Cuup The Scoop Micro Bra

CUUP

What Stands Out
  • Its bras have a barely-there feel and are undetectable beneath clothing.

What Could Be Improved
  • All its bras provide either minimal or moderate coverage.

If you’re someone who gets overwhelmed by having too many options, shopping at Cuup is easy. The brand only has four bra styles—plunge, scoop, balconette, and demi—so picking a favorite is a breeze. And, once you find the style you’re looking for, the brand offers a variety of neutrals and limited-edition hues to choose from.

A major thing to keep in mind: The brand’s bras are unlined, so they won’t provide the same coverage as lined bras. We tested the Scoop Micro Bra in our comfortable bra testing, and we found it to be both comfortable and supportive—in fact, we declared it the overall most comfortable bra. “The coverage was great! It came up high enough so that I didn't feel like I was spilling out but not so high that it looked like a grandma bra,” says one of our testers. “With boobs my size, that is a VERY thin line. There was no boob cleavage or hangover either. It just perfectly contoured to my shape.”

Plus, Cuup’s bras are basically undetectable beneath clothing, so you won’t have to worry about any rogue straps or visible lines. In fact, the Scoop Bra blended in so seamlessly that one of our testers even went as far as to say you would have thought it was her skin. Just keep in mind that the tradeoff of this design, of course, is the lack of nipple coverage. “There is no nipple protection, so if you get cold and you're wearing a tighter top, you will see the shape of the nipple. (Although not the nipple itself, just the shape of it; the fabric is thick enough so you don't have to worry about that),” our tester warns.

These comfortable bras are of impressive quality, too, as the material hardly stretched or frayed throughout weeks of use. Even after throwing the bra in the washing machine and dryer, we found that they came out looking good as new. They also come in an inclusive range of sizes, with band sizes from 30 to 44 and cup sizes from A to H. And if you need help finding your size, you can measure yourself at home with a quiz or schedule a virtual fitting with one of Cuup’s experts. (A former Real Simple writer tried this service and found out she’d been wearing the wrong bra size for years.)

Price Range: $65-$88 | Band Size Range: 30-44 | Cup Size Range: A-H | Bralette Size Range: N/A | Return Policy: 60 days

True & Co

True & Co Soft Form V Neck Adjustable Strap Bra

True & Co

What Stands Out
  • Its wireless, unlined bras are comfy enough to sleep in.

What Could Be Improved
  • It doesn't sell any traditional bra styles.

True & Co’s bras are so comfortable they could pass as pajamas. The brand sells five different bra collections, and all of them are comfy enough to wear every day. All of True & Co.’s bras are wireless, and none of them look like traditional bras. Instead, they look more like supportive bralettes or sports bras. They come in a bunch of different colors and sizes, with band sizes from 30 to 40, cup sizes from A to D, and bralette sizes from XS to XL.

We appreciate the versatility, and we think these bras are a solid choice for errands or even just lounging around. When we tested wireless bras, the Soft Form V Neck Adjustable Strap Bra was a favorite, commended for its soft, smooth, and flexible material. One of our testers actually found the bra so cozy that she has both worked out and slept in it. And the adjustable straps? Always a plus.

While this V-neck bra lacks underwire, our testers with larger busts were pleasantly surprised by the support. ”As someone with a larger bust, I just want to reiterate that it was nice to find a mostly effective option for a wireless bra,” says one tester. “It felt a bit like a high-end, soft and smooth sports bra that worked for everyday use.”

Price Range: $44-$64 | Band Size Range: 30-40 | Cup Size Range: A–D | Bralette Size Range: XS–XL | Return Policy: 30 days (through Amazon)

Lively

Lively T-Shirt Bra

Amazon

What Stands Out
  • Its bras are easily adjustable and very comfortable.

What Could Be Improved
  • Sizing is tricky.

Lively pioneered the leisurée movement—a trend that blends the support of lingerie with the comfort of athleisure. It has a varied selection of everyday bras and bralettes along with some sports bras and nursing bras to round it out. In terms of bra sizing, the brand offers bands from 32 to 40 and cups from A to G. We do wish its bralette sizing was more inclusive, as Lively’s bralettes start at XS and end at XL, with no plus sizes available.

One of the brand’s bestsellers is its T-Shirt Bra, which we named the most comfortable T-shirt bra. Our tester particularly raved about the bra’s unique band: “The bottom of the band is made of a thick, stretchy elastic that really hugs the body in a comfortable yet secure way and eliminates the dreaded experience of the band climbing up the back and you having to constantly pull it down throughout the day.”

The one major con that we found is that sizing is tricky, with our 36DD tester finding the cups too small and our 32B tester finding them too big. Luckily, Lively offers customer insights on each bra, guiding you on whether to size up or down depending on the product's fit. We also like that the brand offers free shipping on orders over $60—and free 30-day returns on most items.

Price Range: $38-$55 | Band Size Range: 32-40 | Cup Size Range: A-G | Bralette Size Range: XS–XL | Return Policy: 30 days

Lively Pick

Knix

Knix WingWoman Contour Bra

Knix

What Stands Out
  • All of the brand’s bras are wireless (yet supportive).

What Could Be Improved
  • The brand-specific sizing can be a bit confusing.

Knix boasts an impressive selection of period underwear, seamless panties, and wireless bras. You’ll find T-shirt bras, bralettes, sports bras, nursing bras, and more, all of which eliminate the discomfort of prodding underwire while maintaining the supportive frame.

We loved the WingWoman Contour Bra so much, it even earned our title of the best structured wireless bra. The bra is so versatile that one of our testers says she wears it to the office, running errands, working from home, traveling, and on vacation. “I think this is a good everyday bra for people who want support but still have comfort from a wireless design,” another tester says. ”If you're like me and want to be comfortable at home, this is an excellent choice for a comfortable ‘leaving the house’ bra.”

Knix’s bras proved to be not only comfortable but durable as well, so you can expect them to hold up well over time. We were impressed with the WingWoman bra’s well-made construction, with one tester noting that “the material is high-quality and the molded cups keep its shape after wearing it, washing it, and leaving it on the bedroom floor.”

Knix has brand-specific sizing from size 0 to 8++ (which loosely correlates to 32A through 42G), so finding your exact fit may be confusing. Luckily, the brand offers a built-in tool that makes it easy to do so. And if you want personalized help, you can message the brand to get a one-on-one fit consultation.

Price Range: $44-$78 | Band Size Range: 28-42 | Cup Size Range: A-G | Bralette Size Range: XXS-XXXXL | Return Policy: 30 days

Honeylove

Honeylove CrossOver Bra

Honeylove

What Stands Out
  • It specializes in shapewear, so its bras are ultra supportive.

What Could Be Improved
  • It only sells three bras, and the “find my size” tool isn’t always accurate.

As a shapewear brand, Honeylove has a small but mighty selection of supportive yet comfortable bras. In fact, it only sells three bras, each available in 8 sizes. While the style variety isn’t as diverse as other retailers on our list, the simplicity makes it easy to navigate. You can even shop the brand’s bundles, which allow you to mix, match, and save money on your favorite bra and shapewear combos.

We tested the CrossOver Bra, which offers adjustable straps for comfort and peekaboo mesh on the sides for some added breathability (and sexiness). In our testing, we found that this bra maintained its shape perfectly post-wash, and the fabric surprisingly still felt fresh. However, where this bra really shines is its soft, smooth material. Crafted with a blend of nylon and spandex, the fabric feels like you aren’t wearing anything: “The entire bra, back band, and straps are incredibly smooth and comfortable,” says our tester.

Since the sizing ranges from XS to 3X, we found it a bit challenging to find the right size. The “find my size” tool wasn’t as accurate as we would have liked, and our testers wished the sizing was a bit more specific. Still, if you purchase the wrong size, the 30-day return policy gives you time to adjust.

Price Range: $64-$69 | Band Size Range: 30-48 | Cup Size Range: A-G | Bralette Size Range: N/A | Return Policy: 30 days

Savage x Fenty

Savage x Fenty Microfiber T-Shirt Bra

Savage x Fenty

What Stands Out
  • The selection includes a variety of fun lingerie, catered toward diverse body types.

What Could Be Improved
  • It has a membership model, which makes prices much higher for non-members.

Savage x Fenty has quickly made a name for itself in the world of lingerie. Created by Rihanna herself, the brand offers inclusive price points and styles designed for various skin tones and body shapes. It offers almost every type of bra you can imagine, including unlined bras, T-shirt and push-up bras, bralettes, strapless bras, and even sports bras. Plus, band sizes range from 30 to 46 and cup sizes from A to H, encompassing a wider range than most of the brands on our list. Even the bralettes span a wide selection, from XS to 4X. We especially appreciate the varied colors—most of the bras and bralettes come in black caviar, brown sugar nude, honey nude, or other more vibrant hues.

Assistant editor Hannah Dorough, who has struggled finding her size at other retailers, has found luck with Savage x Fenty’s selection: “I have a weird bra size, 32DD, and often when I do find my size at other retailers either the cups don't fit quite right or the band is too big or small. I tried Savage x Fenty when it first appeared on the scene (because Rihanna! Duh!) and its T-shirt bra fits me PERFECTLY.”

If you’ve perused the website, you’ve likely seen tons of banners promoting the Xtra VIP Membership, which unlocks tons of perks for frequent shoppers. For just under $60 a month, the membership grants access to extra affordable bundles and exclusive colors and sets. While this deal is likely worth it for big Fenty fans, we found the clickable ads and promotions a bit overwhelming on the website.

Price Range: $25-$70 (for non-members) | Band Size Range: 30-46 | Cup Size Range: A-H | Bralette Size Range: XS-4X | Return Policy: 30 days; $6.95 fee

Lululemon

lululemon Wundermost Ultra-Soft Nulu Triangle Bralette

lululemon

What Stands Out
  • The bras are suitable for high-intensity workouts or everyday use.

What Could Be Improved
  • It only sells sports bras.

Though Lululemon is best known for its buttery soft leggings and high-quality workout gear, it also has a great range of sports bras that aren’t just for sports. They’re specialized for light-, medium-, and high-impact training, catering to any form of workout. But if you aren’t an athlete, features editor Melissa Matthews says they’re versatile enough for everyday use: “Lululemon is usually associated with athletic wear, but the brand offers amazing street clothes too, and makes the best everyday bras in my opinion. (I don't even think to fling them off the second I get home!)”

Many of the brand’s sports bras come in a wide range of colors, ranging from basic neutrals to more vibrant hues. Lululemon’s Wunder Bras are some of the most popular, with Melissa’s favorite being the Wundermost Ultra-Soft Nulu Triangle Bralette. “The Wundermost Bra is made from the most sumptuous material that's as light as a feather against my skin,” she says. “I have a small cup size and have trouble finding bras that don't gap, and this bralette fits perfectly!”

Bras can be ordered online or in store and returned within 30 days of purchase. If you opt for an online purchase, you can even chat with the website’s “product and styling help” services to get the guidance you need.

How to Shop for Bras Like a Pro

Size and Fit

The best bra is one that fits you right. “Check for fit and comfort,” Bourne says. “A good bra doesn’t have to be pricey, but it should adhere to proper fitting standards.” When you’re wearing the right bra, the band shouldn’t ride up, the cups shouldn’t gape or bulge, and the underwire should stay in place when you lift your arms. You may also want to consider your breast shape when shopping for a bra.

“When a bra is new, there should only be two fingers [of] room between the bra and a woman’s body,” Foster explains. “And it should be worn on the loosest hook, so it can be tightened as the elastic stretches.”

Getting fitted in person is a great way to check your bra size. But you can also measure yourself at home with some measuring tape. Just remember that bra sizes vary from brand to brand, according to Foster, who adds that “a letter and number are only half the equation.” The key is to find a bra in a size and a style that’s comfortable enough to wear every day.

Bra Style

Bras come in a range of styles, and according to Foster, there are three essential bra styles everyone should stock up on. “[You need] a T-shirt bra—a bra with smooth cups that wears invisibly under tops,” she says. “[You need] a racerback to wear under sleeveless tops and dresses. [And you need] a plunge cup style to wear with lower-cut [necklines and] button-downs.”

“You have to evaluate your lifestyle and what you’ll reach for most often,” adds Luciani Sena. So depending on what you typically wear, you might also want a sports bra or a strapless bra to your collection. And if you want something super comfortable with minimal padding, consider looking for a bralette instead of a traditional bra.

You’ll probably want to buy your go-to bras in neutral or skin-toned colors. “[But] after the essentials are covered, have fun,” Foster says. A few fun colors, details, or prints will diversify your bra drawer—and they’re fun to whip out on special occasions.

Return Policy

When you’re shopping online, it’s always a good idea to check the retailer’s shipping and return policies. That budget-friendly bra you found might cost just $10, but an $8 shipping fee could nearly double your total. And if you can’t try on bras before buying, you might not get the right size. So a generous return policy—that gives you time to mail returns and doesn't charge an outrageous return shipping fee—can make the online bra shopping process much easier.
