Make art prints using vegetable stamps

Use veggies and other objects from around your house to explore printmaking with paint. Find unique patterns and designs as you cut into celery, mushrooms, potatoes and more!

We went LIVE on a Facebook video to demonstrate this project!

Watch the project demo video below.

Grab supplies around your house to work as we work or view the stream to see how we do it first and get crafty another time.

SUPPLY LIST:
- Vegetables (Potato, Celery, Pepper etc.)
- Knife to Slice (Adult’s Job!)
- Acrylic Paint (Paint Brush Optional)
- Paper or Items to Stamp Onto

How to Create Your own Stamp Art with Vegetables

  1. Gather your produce and slice them to reveal interesting stamp patterns

  2. Squeeze your paint onto your palette (a paper plate works well)

  3. Blot your vegetable with a paper towel to remove excess moisture

  4. Use a paint brush to brush a thin layer of paint onto the surface of your veggie stamp
(you can also dip straight into the paint)

  5. Press you stamp down onto your paper or item you’re creating on and slightly wiggle so all surfaces touch
(you may want to stamp first onto a scrap piece of paper to see your design or get rid of excess paint before stamping onto your art piece)

  6. Try different veggies, colors, or added embellishments to make your unique artwork!
