Faulkner County authorities are searching for a suspect in connection with a murder that occurred Tuesday night in Vilonia.

Police say 44-year-old Travis Watson of Clinton is wanted for questioning in the death of James "Buddy" Land, 49, of Vilonia.

On Tuesday at approximately 8:45 p.m., Faulkner County Sheriff's deputies responded to 636 Highway 287 in the Holland community of Vilonia. A neighbor had called police and stated that Land had been assaulted and was bleeding. Two children had found Land and ran to the neighbor's house.

"When everything happened the boys had to run and get help. They did really well. For two six year olds, they knew something was seriously wrong and the approached the closest house," said Land's sister Teleia Abbott.

Deputies found Land suffering from blunt force trauma to the head. Land died at the scene.

Witness and neighbor statements helped i?nvestigators identify Watson as a suspect. Land's family says he took in a homeless family and that one of the kids staying there is the child of Watson.

"He had a woman and two of her kids had lived here for quite some time. He was worried about the kids and wanted to make sure those kids had a place to stay and them kids loved him," Abbott said.

Watson is described as a white male with red hair and green eyes. He is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and 190 pounds. Police say he may be driving a small tan four-door car with a red door.

Police say Watson should be considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Travis Watson, you are asked to call the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office at (501)450-4914 or call your local police.
