I wish I'd had this book when I took first-year Contracts in law school many years ago. As the author states in the introduction, our law school stressed briefing cases and at that time, there was no instruction as to how to write a good exam answer. Too bad, since that's the same technique a practicing attorney does all the time. Seems that would have been a good skill to teach. "Trickle-down" doesn't work in economics or politics, and it doesn't work in the case-briefing method of learning the law. You might learn all the rules, and outline until you are blue in the face, but it really doesn't get the job done when writing exams. This book will teach you well.

If you are anything like the typical 1L at my law school, you are probably reading this when Final Exams are about a month away. Not to worry! This book was a great help in preparing myself and many others for our final and to get a better grasp of Contract Law in General. My biggest fear when it came to the Final exam was how to write a great Law school essay. This book although not in the IRAC format most of my teachers demand, helped me do just that. The booked helped me solidify what I thought I knew onto paper.

I would recommend buying this book and the Contract's E&E, together these two books helped me do very well in Contracts!

I have to update the review of this book - I still do not like the essays, they are too perfect, and I am not going to write that way on the essays - however, and this is big - for the FYLSX in California, I have found at least one MCQ in each of Siegel's books on Torts, Contracts and Criminal Law which are EXACTLY the same on the MCQ section of the FYLSX! In this regard, this might just up my rating to about a five star or more rating!

We have to master why the right answers are right and why the wrong answers are wrong - in this regard, the Siegel's books offer us that explanation. There are only about 100 MCQ's in each book, so it won't take too long to practice the MCQ's and study why we answer the way we do... I wish I had noticed this sooner.
